Congratulations to Bruce Wood the 2021 Rotary Club of Lake Houston Raffle winner of a mint condition 2019 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe. Mr. Wood is pictured here (center) along with Rotary president-elect Kathy Lemman, Robbins Chevrolet owner and Rotary member Cole Robbins, and Club President Mike Kevlin (right).

Thanks to everyone who purchased Rotary Club of Lake Houston Area tickets to support local non-profits and student scholarships.  Over 900 tickets raffle tickets were sold out of a possible 1,200 tickets printed.

Members of The Rotary Club of Lake Houston Area and the general public gathered at noon on Saturday, June 19 at Robbins Chevrolet in Humble to watch the drawing of the winning raffle tickets with the grand prize of a mint condition 2019 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe.

The drawing was also live streamed on Zoom for those who could not attend in person. Winners did not need to be present to win. Ten $250 Visa gift cards were also raffled as runner up prizes.
After introductions and thoroughly spinning the raffle basket, Rotary President Mike Kevlin asked Samuel Contreras, son of past president Danny Contreras, to draw ten runners-up from a total of 978 tickets in the basket.

President Kevlin announced the runner-up winners as each was drawn. The ten tickets were then returned to the basket to be eligible to win grand prize as well.

Sam Contreras then drew the last ticket for the grand prize. The winner is Bruce Wood of Atascocita. Mr. Wood is also a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Houston.

Wood’s reaction was disbelief as Mike Kevlin had been announcing the names of club members who sold the winning runners-up tickets first. So, Mr. Wood thought he had sold the winning ticket until it was made clear that he had actually won.

When asked what he was going to do now that he had won the Corvette, Mr. Wood said, “I’m going to Disney World!” which got a laugh as it was a take on the Super Bowl MVP winners famous promotional quote.

Runner-up winners of the $250 Visa gift cards are Agmed Aguirre, Kristin Nelson, Roger Meyer, Brenda Elliot, Denezil Schoonover, Bill Boyd, Andy Penney, Judy Willians, Eugene Browhow and Eric Gomez. They will be contacted soon to arrange for pick-up or delivery of their winning gift cards.

Money raised from this raffle will help Rotary to support local charities including scholarships for Humble ISD high school students, Humble FFA Livestock Auction, Junior Rotarian Program, Rotary Youth Exchange Program, Hurricane Relief, YMCA “Operation Backpack”, Family Time, Including Kids, Society of St. Stephens, Oaks of Righteousness, Family Promise, Re: Mind, HAAM, Mission Northeast, Rotary Rose Group, and Boots for Troops to name a few.

This Corvette Grand Sport Coupe has less than 2,000 miles and includes the Grand Sport 1LT Equipment Package with Arctic While exterior, Jet Black interior, 6.2-liter V8 460 hp engine, 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission, Grand Sport Black Aluminum Wheels, Anti-lock Braking System, Leather Seats, Boise Audio System, SiriusXM AM/FM/HD/Satellite Radio, Bluetooth Compatibility and much, much more.
