Over 100 golfers had fun and raised money for local charities at The Rotary Club of Lake Houston Area's Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament (May 5) at the beautiful Tour 18 Golf Course in Humble. Funds raised during the golf tournament will be used to help local community charities including HAAM, Mission Northeast, Family-Time and local high school FFA projects. A portion of the funds will also be sent to Rotary International to help with projects providing fresh drinking water and to eradicate polio.
The Rotary Club of Lake Houston Area successfully hosted its Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament (May 5) at the beautiful Tour 18 Golf Course in Humble. There were over 100 golfers participating with chances to win trophies and cash.
Activities started at 7 a.m. with Breakfast Tacos and goodie bags at registration and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Golfers also competed for a chance to win $5,000 during the Putting Contest and $10,000 if they made a hole-in-one on the course.
Following play trophies were presented, a box lunch was provided and “Pick-A-Prize Raffle winners were announced. Raffle prizes included four Titan coolers with choice cuts of frozen meat, and a $300 Yeti cooler included with a wagon with filled assorted bottled goodies.
The Putting Contest finalist, Chris Butsch from the YMCA, took his one shot at the long put for the $5,000 prize money but sadly, his shot was wide. No one managed a hole-in-one to win the $10,000 but everyone had fun trying.
The weather co-operated and it was picture post card perfect day for golf at this beautiful and challenging golf course.

Golfers also had the opportunity to personally examine Rotary’s next fundraiser, the raffling of a very low mileage 2019 Corvette Grand Sport. The winner of the Corvette raffle will be announced on June 19. Raffle tickets are $100 each and include a chance to win one of ten $250 Visa gift cards and every raffle ticket purchase includes a round of golf for four (Monday-Thursday) at the Atascocita Golf Club (cart not included). Tour 18 provided a unique experience during the tournament as the course is a painstaking reproduction of some of the most renowned holes in the history of golf.
