Chris Wong., Rotary Global Scholar from Houston, has sent Rotary District 5890 an update on his recent activities and scheduled plans at London's School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He won't have to worry about falling to sleep in class as the heating system is broken for several more weeks and this Texan says it's a little cold.
“Hi y'all,
Hope you are all well! Tomorrow is our first day of in-person classes at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, so it's a little like the first day of school all over again. I'm excited to meet everyone that I've been Zooming with for the past 5 weeks - less so for the announcement that the heating system at the school is broken and won't be online for a few more weeks. This Texan is going to buy a thicker winter coat...
I've been invited to speak and promote Rotary to the Head Pupils of the secondary schools in Enfield on November 22, and I'll give my introductory presentation to the Enfield Chase club on January 20. The other scholars are really wonderful and I hope we'll get to attend each others' club events, especially during the Christmas season.
Finally, we just had our reading week - a break from classes to catch up on work or take some time to travel - and so I've just returned from a family trip to Turkey and Jordan. I've attached some pictures to share with you and Pasadena RC. Looking forward to hearing from y'all soon, and to cheer on our new 2022-2023 scholars!
Chris Wong
