Finally the D-Day has come.

August 15th.

I woke up early, too excited to sleep any longer. No. My brain was screaming : «Wake up! You're gonna get into a plane to the other side of the world! ».

The trip to the airport was really awkward. My parents and my sisters were crying, I was smiling and couldn't help it !

Of course, once I get to the point to say “Goodbye” for real, my smiley face disappeared and I started crying too. Even if in my head, I wasn't sad at all.

First time in a airport by myself, that's an experience.

My flight was safe, I got lucky enough to sit next to another exchange student. She was going to Oregon and we talked all the flight long. So time flew. After 8hours, we landed in Philadelphia.

First steps on the American floor !

I had to say goodbye and good luck to my new friend !

I also had a lot of free time in Philadelphia (5hours !) so when I landed in Houston, I was very tired.

But, no time for tiredness ! I was welcomed by some Rotarians. My smile came back in a second, no matter how tired I was. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by hugs and English speaking people.

That was totally unexpected.

My host family came to get me too.
Wow, my first host family ! That was a really amazing feeling. A mix between excitement and fear and joy and hope. They brought me home and showed me around.

I was so tired that I went to bed early !

My first host family took me to the Beach House, to the Palo Duro Canyon, to San Antonio, to East Texas,... I had a great time.

I've been with my 2nd host family for 3 weeks now. I started a new routine, found new habits. I've adapted.

I've spent 5 wonderful months. Without a doubt, the craziest, the most amazing, exciting months of my life, but also maybe the most difficult and exhausting. This experience changed me and is still making me change.

It's worthy.

Every time I look back and see what I've accomplished, it fills me with joy. I still can't believe it. It's an unique experience and it's absolutely wonderful. Every day is a new adventure.

Thank you ! All of you Rotarians for making my dream comes true, for giving this opportunity. I try to make the best out of it.

And I would like to tell you Thank you one billion time, but it would probably annoy you and it wouldn't be enough.
