Yet, the middle age in our society turn to the internet and commit the impudent crime of cyber bulling when a conflict arises. Applying Rotary’s Four-Way Test may raise the bar when referring to high ethical standards.
The internet has become a convenient tool for boastful mortals in civilization who find it easy to hide behind a computer screen while addressing a problem. As a result, relationships are broken and a person’s self-worth may be lowered significantly by hurtful words expressed through Facebook, Twitter, etc. When a person is frustrated or angry about an issue they tend to obtain a certain type of confidence. This newly found confidence can be destructive because it causes a person to say things that they might not actually mean. Asking one’s self the four questions in Rotary’s test can help lead a better life and help to make a wiser decision when handling a conflict.
The Rotary’s Four-Way Test includes stopping to think before acting on a certain decision. If a person asks themselves if what they are saying is true, if it is fair for all concerned, if it will build goodwill and better friendships and if it is beneficial to all concerned will help to minimize harmful comments from being released to the public. This test is also beneficial because it can help determine what acceptable behavior is for a good citizen in our society. When someone makes a harmful comment to a person through anger the words that they express often reflect how they are viewed by the public. By reducing the amount injurious comments that are spread around by a certain person by public media can affect whether they are considered a good citizen.
The Rotary’s Four-Way Test helps people raise their high ethical standards because it forces people to think about their actions while also giving them a chance to reevaluate their decisions. It makes people better citizens because when they think about their decisions they build friendships and goodwill by avoiding saying something that would have a negative outcome in the end. The test is useful because it helps to evaluate what is required to be considered a good citizen. It makes a person realize that they need to be honest, fair and friendly to everyone who crosses their path. Possessing better personal qualities also proves that Rotary’s test helps to apply high ethical standards to society because it teaches people how to lead a better life. It shows that it is better to think about what is said because a person who is rude and not trustworthy is not a good citizen.
It is okay to make mistakes. Yet, Rotary’s test teaches people to become better citizens while also making them better people. In the end it is a positive thing because bad situations are avoided and good new habits can form.
