ARE YOU AN ESTABLISHED PROFESSIONAL WANTING TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES IN YOUR COMMUNITY AND AROUND THE WORLD?

What are the member responsibilities?

Membership in Rotary has responsibilities; therefore it is important to understand these responsibilities before considering membership. Attendance, financial commitments and volunteer time are major responsibilities.

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • First. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; Attendance is very important in the development of acquaintance. A minimum attendance of 60% is required with no more than three consecutive misses. There are various options available make-up missed days. 100 % attendance is encouraged. Meetings are held weekly.
  • Second. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • Third. The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business, and community life.
  • Fourth. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Volunteer Time/Services:
  • Members are expected to volunteer their time to the various projects of the club. We also have several events, fundraisers and civic projects during the year. These include working with the Interact Clubs, mentoring school children and helping with events sponsored by the Lake Houston Area ISD and its foundation and other civic groups in our community.
  • You will be asked to meet and greet members of our club and assist them in securing their name badges before our meetings for 4 weeks.

Dues / Voluntary Fees:
There will be various opportunities to support special community needs during the year. An initiation fee of $100.00 in the form of a check to “The Rotary Foundation” is due at the time of your induction.  Dues include meals at Lake Houston Area club meetings, local, district and international dues and subscription to Rotarian Magazine. These are the only mandatory fees charged to you. All other fees are voluntary.  You will be sent a bill monthly and continued membership requires prompt payment of dues.

Our Club has been designated as a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club and we strive to maintain this distinction. This is a great honor and achievement for our club and is based upon all of our members having contributed at least $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation at Rotary International. While we desire for each of our members to achieve this distinction, it is a voluntary decision to become a Paul Harris Fellow.

Red Badge Program:
