Rotary’s Cinco de Mayo Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 2nd at the Tour 18 Golf Course in Humble was cut short by severe weather (heavy rain and lightning).
All players returned safely to the club house to wait and see if the weather would clear up enough to continue play. This gave the players a unique opportunity to network with the other golfers.
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and the tournament was called. Players received a gift certificate to return to Tour 18 and play another day.
Before the start of play, golfers received a goody bag and had a breakfast burrito, coffee and juice. Many also viewed the display of gift baskets for the silent auction to be held after lunch.
They also had a first hand opportunity to see the 2024 Corvette Stingray Coupe 1LT that was going to be raffled off later that day after the golf tournament. Due to the tournament cancellation, Rotary’s Corvette Charity Raffle drawing was postponed until Noon, Saturday May 11th and moved to Robbins Chevrolet in Humble, Rotary’s raffle sponsor.
Corvette Raffle tickets are still available for sale online until May11th at www.LHARotaryRaffle.com.
Rotary Corvette Raffle committee chair, Eric Gomez, added online raffle sales will continue until 15 minutes before the start of the drawing on May 11th. Light refreshments will also be served. A video recording the event and will broadcast live on the club's Facebook page and winners names will be posted on the club's website.
Unfortunately, the silent auction for the baskets was unable to be held because the gift baskets had already been moved from the club house to the pavilion where lunch was going to be served before play was halted. Tournament chair Danny Contreras will announce plans to auction off the gift baskets after details become available.
We thank everyone for their understanding and support in helping to raise funds for charity.
